Fabric Craft

Ever wished you could sew your own clothes or even revamp existing ones?

We run a 4 week comprehensive dressmaking course. You will learn how to read a sewing pattern, lay and cut fabric out and piece together one garment. You will receive full guidance on buying a pattern and fabric. The option is given to make something tailored to fit yourself or for those that would love to make clothing for their children or grandchildren!
If you have already bought a pattern and fabric but found it too daunting to start, don't hesitate to get in touch about bringing it instead.

Classes are small for one to one tuition.

Patchwork & Quilting

Have you admired beautiful hand made quilts and wanted to be able to create them? We run various sewing and patchwork classes that teach you all the skills, techniques and shortcuts that you will ever need to be able to create your very own heirloom quilts.

Along with quilts we also teach how to sew lovely appliqued wallhangings, quilts, table runners, cushion covers – the creations are endless. This craft is addictive and also very relaxing. It is a brilliant hobby where you can indulge in your passion of sewing and crafting and decorate your home with a new look.

Applique refers to a needlework technique where fabrics are fixed to a background fabric by hand stitching to create a picture. it has been around since sewing was invented.

There are two methods of applique -

needle turn which is used mainly for Baltimore quilts and the traditional applique which is used in the more country style applique.

Applique is used a lot in quilts and household items such as table runners, cushions and wall hangings. it is a great way to express your individual creativity.

I teach this method alongside learning to sew as appliqué really goes hand and hand with patchwork and quilting.

Inktense painting

The latest trend now is to paint your fabric using Inktense or watercolour pencils and then embroider around the painting to bring it to life. This technique is so very simple to master, and you do not have to be an artist to create masterpieces. In our workshops, you will learn the tips & methods used to paint your designs and then finish them off with stunning embroidery stitches. Your finished painted piece can be used as a centre piece for a cushion cover or a delightful wall hanging. All you will need  is some plain cream fabric and embroidery threads, the rest will be provided to create your painted picture.

These include handbags, fabric baskets, tri-fold binding kits, mat and ruler bags, zipped sewing bags,  project folders such as tri-fold EPP folder and tri-fold stitchery folder to name a few, and household items such as oven gloves and tea pot cosy.

We also run one day workshops which will specifically teach you the skills to make one particular item.

We couldn't be without most of these items now that we have made and used them, we are certain you would be the same after you have made one. They make great gifts as well!

We hold one day workshops on sewing toys such as teddy bears, mice

and other animals, and rag dolls.

We are constantly thinking up new toy projects to be included in our teaching workshops.
